Pugsley still out there missing. We haven't had any leads to follow up on lately and the search is sort of at a halt. We no longer believe he is in the area where he was lost, but we have no idea which way he went. Another dog who was missing recently in the area was found 10 miles from where he was lost, so Pugsley could really be anywhere. We are hoping that animal control might get a call about a stray dog that might be him that we could follow up on or better yet, animal control might pick him up. It is also possible that someone has him and thinks that he was a stray since when he was lost, he didn't have any tags on.
Cross your fingers that we get another lead. I'll post the next time something happens.

Another false sighting
Sorry for the lack of updates. We had a big blow on Tuesday when we discovered that Animal Control had picked up a black dog on Nalley street, which is close to Mountain View (the sight of the most recent sighting). One of our volunteers showed the picture of that dog to the people who had called in the possible Pugsley sighting and his face lit up when he saw it. He said that was the dog he had been seeing.
We did get a couple more calls. One person said she saw a black dog but wasn't able to see if close enouph to get any details. Two groups of people went out yesterday and flyered that area. The other couple of calls described a dog that wasn't Pugsley.
We could really use to help flyering. If you have a couple of spare hours this weekend and can help, please email me at terpdive@addr.com. I have map, flyers, tape, etc.

A hopeful sighting
We got a call last night from a man who said a dog matching Pugsley description has been hanging out in his neighborhood for the last two weeks or so. He couldn't talk much then, but we met up with him this morning and showed him Pugsley's picture. He does believe the dog he saw was Pugsley!!
We also talked to two other people in the area and they too think the dog that had been hanging out is Pugsley.
It was in a neighborhood we hadn't yet flyered, so we started working on that this morning. We also moved the traps from where they currently were over to that area. The person who called in the sighting as well as a neighbor across the street gave us permission to set the traps on their property and one of them is even able to monitor it for us!!
Mountain View Rd is the area where he has been seen. At the end of Mountain View Rd is a lot of wooded area. There is also a lot of wood and open space behind one of the rows of houses on Mountain View. It is possible he might be using those woods to hide in and only coming out for food and to get warm. One of the people, who house we set a trap on, said he likes to come up and find a sunny spot on the persons front porch or back deck.
The last time he was seen was Friday, so we are hoping he is still in the area. They said he sometimes hides over the weekend when more people are home. Anytime someone has tried to get near him, he runs.
Cross your fingers.

Yet another black dog
Animal Control was back on Capitol Heights the other day picking up another loose black dog that a resident has contained. We were not even aware of this dog. No idea if it had been running loose for a while or had just escaped, so we don't know if some of the sightings might have been him.
Wednesday night, we had a service make robo-calls to the area with the information about Pugsley. It went out to 5000 people. We did get some possible sightings due to the calls. I will try to update the map with them.
The trap has still been closed due to the weather. We are trying to decide where to go from here.

Chow and the weather
Nothing much new to report yesterday. No new sightings. Another cat in the trap, but no Pugsley.
Animal Control came out and set out another trap in an area where the Chow was hanging out and they managed to catch him and take him to the shelter.
Due to the weather this morning, we decided to shut down the trap for today since it would be hard to get out there and check it.
We are considering doing findtoto.com calls to the area shortly in hopes that it can get us some more sightings.

Weekend Update
Got a bunch of calls about possible sightings this weekend. A couple sounded promising and I marked them on the map. A couple didn't sound like Pugsley, so I didn't mark those. The sighting we got at Eastern and Dix on Friday, we now think was the black lab that we caught in the trap on Thursday. Animal Control came and got him and immediately returned him to his owners. His owners allowed him to escape again and he was caught in the trap again on Sunday morning. This time Animal Control brought him to the county shelter, where he is awaiting pickup or a new home.
About 8 people were out flyering on Sunday. We covered two areas that hadn't been heavily covered, but where two sightings had been called in. The latest sighting at the corner of Central Ave. and Tunic was called in just as we were meeting to start flyering. The group of us in four cars headed over to the area and drove around to see if we might be able to spot Pugsley. No luck, but lots more flyers were put out in the area. There is a large wooded area over there, so Pugsley might be hanging out in there.
We still have the traps up. Checked it this morning - it was open and empty.
Lets hope for some better luck this week.
